Wey Valley Academy celebrated an evening of entertainment, showcasing work that had been created in the enrichment programme. Every Friday afternoon, Wey Valley students have the opportunity to choose and participate in different enrichment programmes being offered by staff and a group of around 50 students across all year groups took on the challenge to join ‘Showtime’, having to create and then perform dance, drama and music items for the Variety Show. Friday afternoon’s soon became a hive of activity which spilled over into many after school rehearsals and practices as the students worked hard on their show pieces.

The whole show was pulled together in a one day tech rehearsal, and the students were amazing, taking ownership not just with the performance, but also stage management, back stage crew, sound tech and show host. The atmosphere was fantastic as they all openly encouraged and celebrated each performer, helping them to overcome any nerves. The evening performance became a tremendous show case event revealing our students at their best.

New talents have been discovered and new friendships made. It has been a wonderful start to the possibilities of enrichment and role on the next ‘Night at the Musicals’ due Summer 2020!

Don’t Forget The Dance show on 1st April, this years show is entitled ‘The Opening of the End’.
