FACT – More exercise by young people enhances their academic performance
EVIDENCE – A comprehensive study by the London Institute of Education followed all children that were born in 2000-01. It uncovered that children between the ages of 5 and 16 that took part in regular exercise were 1 and ½ times more likely to do better in their English and Maths tests and exams. Also particular groups like disadvantaged children who took part in after school clubs on a regular basis did twice as well as those disadvantaged students that didn’t. Similar findings to such studies have been recorded in other countries such as Canada, Germany and America.
