Wey Valley Academy fell silent at the eleventh hour to remember all those who have laid down their lives for us. During the two minute silence, students were shown images from the two world wars while the Year 11 Head Student Leaders presented a wreath with Principal Mr Russell to former student and Marine James Wright. Earlier this week, a group of students laid poppies at James’ grave at Portland Royal Navy Cemetery while Vice Principal and former Sergeant Major in the 2nd Royal Tank Regiment, Mr Lydford gave a powerful and poignant assembly about Remembrance Day, including a tribute to Marine James Wright. In the weeks running up to Armistice Day, student council members have been selling poppies to their year group bubbles to support the work of The Royal British Legion.
