BBC Antiques Roadshow Expert Delivers Talk

Wey Valley Academy GCSE students studying Drama and Dance were thrilled to be given a talk by BBC Antiques Roadshow expert Paul Atterbury. The discussion centred around working for television and possible aspirational career choices .

Atterbury has been an expert on the BBC programme since 1979 and specialises in ceramics, the arts, architecture . His mother was the famous British puppeteer Audrey Atterbury who is best known for her work on the pioneering 1959s children’s series ‘ Andy Pandy’.

Atterbury said ‘ make connections with writers and directors and network - the arts is a tough pathway but resilience is key ‘. A Year 10 pupil explained ‘ I want to become an actor and perform on television -I want to find my niche within the industry’.

Head of Performing Arts, Mark Damon Chutter, who arranged the event exclaimed’ my thanks to Atterbury for his advice and expertise and for empowering our students with a belief that they can succeed in this profession’.
