Wey Valley Academy students were inspired by a prestigious talk and workshop delivered by Rubie McDermott of Downing College, Cambridge . The session was aimed at aspirational choices for pupils regarding informed further and higher education courses. The workshop also considered funding and scholarship support. McDermott said that 'finance and funding should not be a barrier to accessing Cambridge'. 

One Year 10 student said ' I was unaware of the range of courses on offer at Cambridge and this has motivated me to accelerate my learning further and to join societies and guest talks at Wey Valley'.  Mr Chutter, Head of Performing Arts, said ' our thanks to Rubie for such an innovative talk that has inspired our pupils to aim high for their future -the stretch and challenge of the session really did ignite their intellectual curiosity'.
