Students Perform Poetry At Dorset History Centre
Year 7 Wey Valley Academy pupils Georgia Gray and Charlie Ryan were invited to read at an afternoon of seasonal poetry and prose at the Dorset History Centre in Dorchester on Saturday. Georgia read from ‘Under the Greenwood Tree’ and Charlie the poem ‘ The Oxen’ by Thomas Hardy .
Both pupils performed the prose and poetry with sensitivity and meaning . The audience of over sixty people were highly impressed by our two pupils reading these important works by Hardy . Head of Performing Arts, Mark Chutter who coached the pupils, said ‘ I was impressed with both Georgia and Charlie with their nuanced festive readings - Wey Valley is a school where reading is at the heart of the curriculum and the History Centre have invited the academy back in 2026’.
