Thomas Hardy Society Deliver workshop
Year 8 were thrilled with a workshop delivered by the Thomas Hardy Society on Friday . The session was delivered by Byron Silver, Alban O'Brien and John Eames regarding Hardy's poetry. The workshop included analysing and evaluating an eclectic range of Hardy's work and this was a segue to writing creatively in the style and genre of the writer and poet.
Thomas Hardy Society council of management lecturer, Alban O'Brien, said 'it is a real pleasure to be working in partnership with Wey Valley Academy to introduce Hardy '. Mr O'Brien is also a volunteer at Dorset Museum and organises tours all over the county . Mr Silver and Mr Eames also volunteer for the National Trust.
One student said 'I feel that I discovered so much contextual information about this local author that I will visit Max Gate ', another said 'I adore writing creatively and this session has supported my English studies'. Mark Damon Chutter, Head of Performing Arts, said 'my thanks to the Thomas Hardy Society for facilitating this inspiring session today and it is important that Hardy is represented within the education system as a local, national and international writer'.
